Smart Practices

As the successor of the EU-UNDP Equal Opportunities and Women’s Rights in Ukraine Programme, the Strengthening National Gender Machinery Project has authored a publication entitled “BeingSmartaboutGender: SuccessfulApproachesandKeystoFosteringGenderEqualityinUkraine 2008-2011”. This publication was prepared as part of the comprehensive review process that summarizes results, lessons learned and successful practices of the Equal Opportunities and Women’s Rights in Ukraine Programme: the largest gender equality initiative in Eastern Europe in the last 20 years.

The volume is aimed at a wide circle of stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, individual researchers, academia and think tanks, similar projects and initiatives in the realms of gender equality, combat against domestic violence and women empowerment, as well as the international development community.

NGM participates in “European Village”

ev-logo-enDuring Euro 2012 the City of Kyiv offers an additional attraction for its citizens and visitors: the “European Village. Our Continent. Our Future”. From 2 June to 1 July, under the Arch of Friendship, the European Village showcases projects and approaches in eleven selected fields of international development cooperation. It promotes European integration and cooperation in an interactive and entertaining way. The European Village is a German-Ukrainian initiative in partnership with the European Union and the City of Kyiv.

UNDP NGM Project participated in the Democracy, Civil Society and Human Rights Days of the European Village on 8 and 9 June with Exhibition of caricatures – winners of the Contest “Gender Stereotype – Caricature of the Reality” and presentation of short films from “Gene of Equality Film Festival”.
